OUR STORY
Sharma Bright Horizons Foundation was created from the belief that education can change the course of life.
The foundation is rooted in Sanjesh’s childhood in Fiji, where he gained firsthand insight into how discreet, timely support can create pathways to opportunity. That early gift of help stayed with him—and became the inspiration to give back.
In 2000, during a visit to Fiji, Sanjesh and his wife, Shoma, noticed children walking to school, their books tucked in plastic bags, an improvised defense against the rain. What began with the simple donation of backpacks quickly grew into a long-term commitment to supporting education. Today, the foundation reaches hundreds of students across multiple schools, providing supplies, uniforms, books, tuition support, and resources that enrich their learning environments.
Our mission is simple: to brighten horizons through education, dignity, and opportunity. We focus on meaningful, lasting impact—empowering children to learn, grow, and build a future filled with possibility.
If even one child can succeed because of this support, then our purpose is fulfilled.
Education Transforms Lives...
Education is more than the ability to read or write—it is the awakening of possibility. When a child is knowledgeable, confidence replaces limitation, curiosity replaces fear, and hope replaces
uncertainty. Education equips individuals not only with knowledge but also with the power to make choices, break cycles of poverty, and shape their own futures. One educated child uplifts an entire family, and over time, whole communities begin to thrive. In this way, education becomes a driving force for fostering fairness and compassion in the world.
Hindu philosophy teaches that knowledge is sacred. The ancient saying “Vidya Dhanam Sarva Dhanat Pradhanam” reminds us that knowledge is the greatest form of wealth—one that can never be taken away. Education nurtures viveka (discernment), shraddha (faith in oneself), and seva (selfless service). When children are given the tools to learn, they are empowered to live with purpose, integrity, and responsibility toward others. By investing in education, we are not just changing individual lives—we uphold the belief that the expansion of wisdom brings justice, balance, and humanity to the world.
Results So Far...
Since our work began in the early 2000s, Sharma Bright Horizons Foundation has supported more than 6,500 children—and counting. What started as a small effort to help a handful of students has grown into a sustained commitment that reaches hundreds of children each year.
In 2025 alone, we helped over 400 students begin their school year fully prepared with the supplies, uniforms, and resources they needed to learn with courage. In 2026, we are proud to expand that reach to 650 children, ensuring even more students start school on equal footing.
While numbers help tell the story, we believe the true impact goes beyond statistics. Each child supported represents a life empowered, a family uplifted, and a future made brighter.
We feel deeply encouraged knowing that year after year, our work continues to create fairness, dignity, and opportunity—one child, one classroom, and one community at a time.
